Mini Cooper S Mk1 for sale £42,995

RESERVED

In Tartan red with a black roof and red/grey interior.

This lovely Morris Cooper S Mk1 comes from the long term ownership of a Mini enthusiast who also owns a Cooper.

It was discovered in a front garden in Wimbledon, London in 1984 and carefully restored using the original bodyshell and retaining as much of the original metalwork as possible. The car still has the correct pressings and brackets. It then received a bare shell respray. The bodywork is still in excellent condition today.

The original 1275cc engine was fully rebuilt and bored out to 1293cc with a lightened and balanced flywheel, Omega pistons, with a Piper 295 camshaft with a long branch manifold and a single box RC40 exhaust. Aldon electronic ignition is fitted to the original distributor. The engine is sweet and pulls very well - this is the nicest Mini we've driven for a long time.

The twin 1 1/2 SU carburettors were replaced not long ago and fitted with Triple A needles and red springs. The correct 333, 3 synch gearbox was rebuilt by Bill Richards Racing in Kent.  Standard for this year's model were an oil cooler and twin petrol tanks.

Standard S brakes are fitted except for twin grooved brake discs and stainless steel pistons in the calipers. The brakes and transmission assemblies have been rebuilt.

The lovely interior has factory reclining seats in correct grey/gold brocade with red panels and a Smiths rev counter is fitted. The car runs on 4 1/2J Cooper S wheels.  It is registered on its orginal mark which is PPG 870E and the Heritage Certificate confirms the matching numbers and original specification.

In fine overall condition, this superb Mk1 S is ready for using and enjoying.
