Hotchkiss Jeep M201 for sale £20,995

A rare and wonderfully original, Paris built Hotchkiss.

In very good order and mechanically superb.

It is believed that the early Hotchkiss Jeeps built at the Paris factory used parts left over from WW2 Jeeps. The cam cover, chassis and other little details differ from the post '56 Stains built cars, and this M201 is almost certainly one of these machines.

It is delightfully original with a period weathered look that suit it so well. There are no markings and these can be added by a new owner if they so desire.

There is floor start, bonnet locks and locks for the screen when it's folded, wood blocks on the bonnet for the windscreen to rest on, wipers, a very good hood, a fitted Jerry can and period tools attached to the bodywork. It's a 6 Volt with a new and correct battery recently fitted.

The engine is the unit 2.2 litre, four cylinder unit with a three speed manual gearbox.

This car is very early with myriad early features and was discovered on an estate of an historic Chateau in France.

We acquired the Hotchkiss from a local enthusiat and prior to that, it was owned by the UK's leading classic Jeep dealer (for three years) as his personal car. There are various emails on file from him confirming this is the best M201 he's ever driven.

It was then purchased by a leading classic Land Rover dealer, again as his personal car and aftewards made its way to Sussex.

In January 2018 leading Jeep specialist Jeffrey's Engineering in Kent went through this Jeep and gave it a good going over and a service.
That cost over £1000 and £850 has been just spent with them on a service, the battery, new battery leads and so on. The underside has been professionally steam cleaned and waxoyled at considerable expense.

The Jeep starts easily and goes extremely well. This is not your "average" Hotchkiss Jeep - it is fine mechanical and cosmetic order and looks fantastic. There are no dubious repairs carried out many years ago as on many of these cars and it retains a wonderful, lightly worn appearance.

Ready to enjoy.
