Bentley R type automatic for sale Sold

SOLD

In black and cream with a red pinstripe and Beige hide.

The Bentley was supplied to Commander James Dugdale whose mother was Lady in Waiting to Queen Mary and whose father was the Queen's Equerry. When he died in 1964 it passed to a Chief Superintendent at Scotland Yard and he sold it to an American couple in 1973. It moved around the US and was displayed in a motor museum before being bought by a gentleman in Texas. The R type was imported back in to the UK in 2015 in good sound condition.

The current owner has spent a good deal of time, and not a little money, gently bringing this fine motor car back up to scratch with work including refreshing some of the paintwork, a beautiful full carpet set from Coverdales, general servicing and maintenance, new tyres and the upgrading of various fixtures and fittings.

Importantly, the car received a rebuilt exchange automatic gearbox from Graham Whitehouse Autos in Halesowen, respected specialists for this transmission. They also carried out a thorough and detailed mechanical overhaul with the invoice for this work coming to £13,000. Needless to say the R Type now drives beautifully and the automatic transmission really suits the character of the car.

The bodywork presents very well and the chromework is excellent. The car has a sunroof which works correctly and retains its original headlining. The interior is a lovely place to be with lightly refreshed leather seats, new carpets and very good woodwork.

A handsome and well cared for R Type in excellent order.
